So, I've always had a love-hate relationship with this game (and many many people hate it understandably) but I remember I could see that it could still be fun at moments; now after having implemented the patch I think I understand why, the game DOES A 180 with proper mouse input support and high hz gameplay.
The soul of the game remains the same, it's still not at the same level of the previous two (not even close) but idk I found it fucking fun to rip the necromorphs to shreds with my big ass carbine-shotgun combo gun, especially now that I can 180 FLICK THOSE FUCKING ANGLE TURNING ASSHOLES (the 4 legged ones I can't remember how they're called, the ones that rush towards you and launch you into the stratosphere if they hit you) to pieces, these guys:
For this one the AI took plenty of time to find the proper point where to place the hook to capture and override the mouse input, because I wanted it from the start to be compatible with Zero-G and turrets; after it found the proper patch point it started working very well from the start with no major issues.
So far I've managed to reach chapter 14, so about ~70% of the main campaign.
One issue that remains still is that when the camera is frozen or redirected by the game to e.g look at something specific, the camera instead remains frozen and mouse delta accumulates over time and is applied all at once when the camera becomes responsive again (generally this only lasts for about 1 or a few seconds and very sparingly thankfully so it's not an issue imo) but I will eventually manage to fix this one too.
One thing that is notable is that I worked on this fix last week (finished this current 'incomplete' version like last wednesday) then did other stuff, came back sunday evening and another guy has created the same fix for the game (PCGW link, btw this one probably works better since apparently from the posts on NexusMods it has been tested by multiple people) I think this is not a coincidence, and it probably means other people are working on all these sorts of fixes right now and it's weird to think about.
Maybe I'll expand on this on another post but I can see a new type of mod starting to come to existence: personal single use mods, that people create for themselves and don't share them; this is already happening with apps to a certain degree: I'm writing this blog post from a fully custom made PySide6 app, made with AI using a custom markdown-esque language that AI made the preprocessor for, right here:

It's cool as fuck that people can do this now, it enables so many more things you can do that weren't worth the time or effort before 1.
If and when i manage to fix the remaning (hopefully small) issues, I'll update the post!
